Biography - Chief Jeff Need

Chief Jeff Need began his fire/EMS career 30 years ago as a volunteer firefighter with the Rossville Volunteer Fire Department.  He was hired in 1998 as a career firefighter with the West Lafayette Fire Department, where he has worked his way up through the ranks to his current appointment as Fire Chief.  Chief Need is passionate about being engaged in the community and in developing those around him through training and education, to better serve and protect those in need.  He is active in conducting fire service courses at the local and state level.  He is a graduate of Purdue University and the National Fire Academy's Executive Fire Officer Program.  He and his wife Lori reside just outside of Lafayette. They have two grown children and 1 grandson.
